Hi, I am Michal
I’m a deaf illustrator and designer who lives in Tel Aviv in Israel, a small, multi-cultural nation in the Middle East. Israel is a great source of inspiration for me, as it is a cosmopolitan country with people from many different backgrounds, including my own parents who immigrated from Eastern Europe.
Being deaf has given me the gift of heightened awareness of my visual environment. I can walk down a street without hearing a sound, which allows me to focus on the look of the elements around me and pay attention to small details. I’ve always drew and mixed different colors to create something new since before I could remember.
After beginning my professional career as a graphic designer in high school, I completed my bachelor’s degree in fashion at Shankar, the college of design and engineering. After working for a fashion company for six months, I realized that my true passion lies in the crossroad of illustration and design. I began creating prints for a platform called Patternbank and over the years, developed several successful designs that have decorated various items worldwide. Now, I am excited to be selling my products directly to customers as an independent designer.
“I believe that a combination of passion and creativity can turn any simple stone into an amazing diamond.”
